ABOUT US

Bonnievale River Lodge offers stylish, self catering or bed and breakfast accommodation in the heart of the Robertson Wine Valley.

3kms from the centre of town between farmland and on the Breede River, can enjoy a rural experience but not far from civilization and the wonders that the area has to offer.

Whether you are travelling for business or leisure, we have all that you need for a relaxing stay.

There is a small camp site along the Breede river, all sites have electricity. There are hot water ablutions and communal kitchen as well as convenience shop in season.

We are situated 3 kms from Bonnievale town centre in the direction of Robertson, approximately halfway between Cape Town and George. Surrounded by farms and vineyards, we are perfectly positioned to explore the Robertson wine route and the Route 62 region.

There is much to do in the area if you enjoy exploring. Wine tasting, 4x4 trails, hiking and river cruises among others. A 15 minute journey takes you to the Route 62. We are an Ideal half way stop en-route to the Garden Route. Discounts are available for Pensioners, Large Groups, long stays or Mid-Week visits.

ACCOMMODATION

Self-Catering Accommodation

Bonnievale River Lodge offers accommodation for a max of 24 people in beautifully decorated rooms with options to suit most budgets.

The Farmhouse and suites and the Annex our newest accommodation and suites are spacious comfortable rooms to enjoy with friends and family.

• All accommodation is self-catering but meals are available on request during the week.
• DSTV and Wifi in all rooms.
• Enjoy the rural atmosphere not far from Bonnievale town.
• For cooling off during the hot summer, we are on the Breede River and we have a pool.

Details of the accommodation are:

• The Farmhouse. the Vineyard, East and West Suite all with separate entrances sleep a total of 11 people.
• The Annex and suites which are not far from the Farmhouse sleep another14.
• DSTV and free Wifi in all rooms.
• We have a small convenience shop which is open from late September until the end of April.

Camp sites at Bonnievale River Lodge

• Pretty shady camp site mainly suited to families and couples. Quiet and peaceful, we don't allow music.
• 30 camp sites in total. 11 on the upper level with wooden decks, river views and parking.
• 9 on the river front, no parking, drop and go only and the balance on the park area between the upper level and the river.
• All sites have braais, bring your own grid.
• Swimming pool.
• Canoes for hire.
• Small jungle gym.
• Convenience shop open in the summer season.
• Camping is on the lower and upper level as seen in the picture above. There is a lot of shade and grass.
• The sites on the lower level usually accommodate larger groups, are closer to the river but no cars are allowed other than to unload.
• The parking area is behind the upper sites about 40metres away.
• The picture above is of the lower level. The river is on the left and the upper level sites, some with decks are on the right.
• The sites on the upper level run along the top of the bank, some have decks which you can see in the picture.
• The river is perfectly safe to swim in and provides hours of fun for adults and children during the summer months.

Things to Do

There are lots of fish in the river as the photos below show. Fishing is purely on a catch and release basis. Bass, Carp and Barbel are the predominant fish. A lightweight medium size rod with a mixture of lures, earthworms and mielie bomb would be a good start.

The local Multisave which is open every day from early until late has a good fishing tackle section so you can get everything you need right here in Bonnievale.

Terms and Conditions

All cancellations must be in writing.

Cancellation Policy:

No cancellations or changes to bookings for December/January school holidays after 1 September.

Full payment for December/January school holidays is required by 1 September.

Bookings that are not paid in full by the end of October can be cancelled by Bonnievale River Lodge with no deposit refund.

Exchanges for cancelled bookings are allowed under certain conditions. Terms and Conditions apply.

Late arrivals or early departures will not be refunded.

No shows will not be allowed an exchange.

General Terms and Conditions:

If you wish to make use of your booking at another time, we allow you to change your dates to another date in the future (12 months). Terms and Conditions apply.

Making the new booking is subject to availability.

Long weekends and school holidays are excluded unless booked 48hrs in advance and we have availability. Weekends during the period December – March cannot be booked more than 48 hours in advance.

Bookings may only be cancelled once. Guests who cancel for the second time will lose all monies paid.

Banked monies are not transferable to other bookings or people.

If the rate has increased since the original booking was made the new rate will be applied and the difference will be due on arrival.

Cancellations for the December/January school holidays that are made less than 14 days before the arrival date will not be entitled to an exchange and full payment will be forfeited.

In addition:

Early departures and late arrivals will not be eligible for refunds.

Individual members of the group who do not arrive and we have not received notification of this fact within 7 days of arrival will be eligible for the full amount of the booking.

Bookings that are changed to a shorter period of time will be liable for the full amount of the original booking. We reserve the right to cancel these bookings.

Rebooking fee of R150 for cancelled bookings.

Refunds will be made within 30days of cancellation.

Peak periods are any long weekend, December/January and Easter school holidays.
